David Wampach
David Wampach (1978, Alès, France). He started his personal work thanks to the funding from the Association Achles. After the duet D E S R A (2003), created with Pierre Mourles, and CIRCONSCRIT (2004), he created BASCULE (2005), QUATORZE (2007), AUTO (2008), BATTERIE (2008) and BATTEMENT (2009).
In 2011, he developed two new pieces inspired from the Russian Ballet: CASSETTE, a re-interpretation of Nutcracker, and SACRE, which is based on the Rite of Spring, presented at the Festival Montpellier Danse, in 2011. In the same year, he received a prize at the Villa Kujojama in Kyoto. In 2012 and 2013, with the realisation of his first short film, RITE, in continuation of SACRE, he pursued his work on both rituals and trance. Following, he created TOUR, a visual and sonorous portrait.
In 2014, he created the duet VEINE for the outdoor festival Cratère Surfaces, organised by La Cratère, scène nationale d’Alès, where he became associated artist from 2012 to 2016. In 2015, at the Montpellier Festival, he created URGE, a piece for 6 dancers about desire and urges. His last creation, ENDO, is a duet inspired from endotism and action art and and was premiered at the Montpellier Danse, in 2017. David Wampach is associate artist at the CDCN Uzès Danse for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018.
David Wampach is also regularly invited to teach in educational programs, such as ex.e.r.ce, at the Centre Choréographique National de Montpellier, EMFOCO in Concepción, Chile, and danceWEB, the scholarship program from the ImPlus Tanz festival in Vienna.
